Description

Everyone knew the urban legend. We lived it.

I’ll never forget the summer of 1997, not for as long as I live. We’ve all heard the disturbing tales and creepy urban legends about the decaying old building sitting on Dudley Road. But when my friends and I finally gathered up the courage to visit, we concluded they were nothing more than silly stories.

We were wrong.

When we left, we took something with us – and now they want it back. I’m being haunted, and they swear they won’t rest until I return it to them. I try to ignore them… but when paranormal events start terrorizing me; I know they’re dead serious.

And when my friends start going missing one by one, I’m terrified that I’m next…

Step into a chilling horror story where spirits lurk in the shadows and nothing is as it seems. Based on real-life events and dripping with hair-raising suspense, Dudley Road is an unforgettable and bone-chilling read that’s perfect for anyone who loves to be on the edge of their seat. Great read! The author definitely has the urban myth trope down with this one. A tale that everyone has heard of but has changed many times over the years. A realistic style of writing makes the reader feel like they are in the middle of this friend group, just hanging out and telling ghost stories. Then the strange thins start to happen and the fun begins. This story had me thinking I knew what was going on and then in the next instant having absolutely no idea. The storyline captivating throughout, keeping me turning the pages late into the night. Overall highly enjoyable.

Shout out to Book Sirens and M.Jandreau for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review. I will admit that I went into this one expecting a typical “Supernatural” influenced ghost infused horror. Until about the halfway point I thought I was being proven correct. I was wrong. This story was very well crafted and took a hard left just past the halfway point that left me turning pages in giddy anticipation of what was to come. The character development was great. The pacing was a little hit and miss. Excellent ending!!!!!

by far one of my best reads of the horror-mystery genre. the whole set-up of the story is rlly creepy and apt for the whole concept. i love the fact that it has short chapters and the book is not too long or not too short + the plot twists are insane but it just somehow kinda makes sense??? it’s not like i’m super into this genre, but i absolutely loved this book!!! it keeps you at the edge till the end and the supernatural arc to it is rlly awesome too. so if you’re into spooky, horror, mystery-thrillers then i’d def recommend this. also, the first person pov, and the whole teenagers doing spooky stuff just seems so-idk- cool? or maybe relatable?

I should stop reading horror this genre isn’t my forte lol im a scaredy cat Dudley Road is a horror/paranormal thriller about the spooky and unexplainable events that follow Mike and his five friends Dan, Kevin, Brian, Jen, and Wendy. Dudley road is a place of urban legend, where cruel things happened to a Nun living in a convent along the road. After the friends venture out onto the supposedly haunted road Dudlet Road, paranormal and scary things start to happen. One by one, all of Mike’s friends disppear, taken by an unexplainable force, leaving only him to find out what his happening and bring his friend back. I will say this was def very spooky (then again this is the second horror novel ive read lol). The book started okay, not much happening till the 100 page mark. And boy did it took from there!! Jandreau succeded in writing suspenseful plots that gave me goosebumps. The transition from horror to paranormal was so suspenseful, albeit a little vague and confusing. And the Light scene was SO FUCKING SCARY! This book has plenty of well written scenes that gave me the chills. I will say the ending was so good. The usual “was the character imagining it?” trope was good for this particular book, tho I’m a confused about why Mike was so ignorant and sane after it all ended. I would have liked to see more of his hysteria, and him trying to come to terms with reality after the horrors he faced alone. Even though the book was great, there were a few plotholes. One, who really were William and Joseph? What were they doing and what was their purpose? It’s explained in the books, but the explanation was just 15-20 pages or something. And second, what was the thing that was happening at the basement of the outlook? Why couldn’t the workers see Mike? We never got an answer to that. Overall the plot is great, the writing is easy to read with not much poetic prose and stuff, and the plot twist kept me turning the pages. Oh and this is based on real life events. Lovely. Thank you to BookSirens for the ARC! 🙂

I really enjoyed this book. I love authors writing style. I felt like I was right there in the book, a part of the story. I was.slightly. disappointed in the ending. A little more explanation would have made.it a 5 star for me.

I was disappointed. The suspense and thrills were not found and I had a hard time reading because of extraneous writing that made no sense.

I had to re-read this since I’m not a huge fan of horror stories but the way this was written was interestingly vivid making the reading experience fun in a way. No spoilers but the imagery is depicted in ways where you can easily imagine where they are or what’s happening. It almost felt like you were inside the story as well. Some parts might have been confusing but it was alright. The story was nonetheless bound together nicely and it’s easy to get hooked. would recommend this to people who enjoy thrilling stories surrounding urban legends

Definitely thought-provoking, chilling and suspenseful. However, it also describes the psychological side of the events, with all the subsequent emotions and reactions. Human beahavior under extreme conditions is a real phenomenon in itself, worthy of extensive research and analysis. The author writes in various genres and the narrative feels quite intelligent as well. The main objective of a good book is to entertain the reader, irrespective of the genre. Something Mr. Jandreau achieves easily. Impressive author bio in that respect. Recommended to readers who want to be thrilled.

The audio for this adds just enough to make this an extra spooky read. I will be going down the rabbit hole to find out more about this haunted road.

Oh the pleasures of walking into a story without any knowledge continues with this M. Jandreau novel of which I received an advance review copy for free. A novel which starts off as a typical teen targeted horror flick, but then ascends into something quite terrifying and unexpected. For a horror story to work, the characters need to be likable enough, so we can root for them to survive the ordeal, and Mike here especially makes for a real, grounded character, as we feel and experience his pain and troubles. While the sudden shift in tale in the final act may not work for some, I found it perfectly inspired, leading to a neat conclusion. Sign me up for more M. Jandreau!
