The author explored a wholesome, lifelong friendship between two men in “My Best Friend, Marty.” It was comforting and relaxing to read, and interesting to learn about the two men & their families.
The book explores struggles without fatalism, and touches on mental health & its importance in our overall well-being.
There were a couple of things that didn’t sit right – mostly pertaining to the ex-wife. But overall, I’d like to see more stories like this.
***This book was provided to me as party of the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program, but the review is wholly my own

I really loved this book! It was such a fun read and was great to watch two friends grow up and share so many good memories together. It made me think of my childhood and the friends I’ve made along the way. Definitely recommend!

I fell in love with this book from the very start. The writing style was engaging and characters felt like family throughout the entire book. I found the book easy to read and keep up with. It did NOT drag along but kept going, moving from one time period to another without leaving you wondering what happened. I highly recommend this book for any one who wants an entertaining story without all the extra fluff that makes some books drag on and on. This was a wonderful book.

My Best Friend, Marty. ✨possible spoilers✨ A tale of friendship, love, loss, strength and found family. Mike has done it, yet again. This book had me all in my emotions. I laughed, I cried, I got angry at some points. But mostly I laughed because the banter between the two boys is absolutely hilarious. Matt and Marty’s relationship was a beautiful one. In the beginning, I wasn’t sure how I felt about Marty, he was just an odd character, however, I came to love him more than any one else in the book. Matt and Marty became friends by chance after Marty moved in next door. They began hanging out daily, and over time their friendship blossomed into a chosen brotherhood. Marty was the best man at Matt’s wedding, and also later on the godfather to his daughter. When Marty’s father died unexpectedly, Matt is by his side to support him throughout the entire grief process. Even having him move in, even though it cost him his marriage. But honestly, as Matt said himself, if she left so easily over something so little then she was looking for an excuse to leave long before she actually left. Marty moving in was just the easy way out. Personally, I think Matt is better off without her though because being in a trust-less marriage is no way to live. I personally loved this book. The story line, everything about it felt real, raw and was definitely emotional. 5⭐️ easily. Be sure to grab yourself a copy on March 14!! You won’t be disappointed. ❤️

“My Best Friend, Marty” is a beautiful story about friendship, as well as love and loss. There is a big loss in the book and the author’s writing makes you feel that loss, it makes you really feel for the characters and care about them. I’m not a crier, in general, but I did tear up and shed a few tears with the characters at the big loss.
Matt (MC) and Marty meet as young adults, both still living at home. You follow along as their friendship starts, and watch it blossom into a beautiful, lasting friendship. Through ups and downs, their friendship stays strong. Even with all the peaks and valleys thrown at them as they grow from young adults onwards, they stay the best of friends.
I liked this book, enjoyed it. I wouldn’t say I loved it. However, some of that may have been my own fault. I’ve been on a fantasy kick for a few months now, and have almost exclusively read that genre lately. This book is not fantasy, but my brain kept thinking it was. When something that was merely coincidental would happen in the book, my brain jumped right to it was superhuman, or magic. So the first half of the book, I was trying to figure out if Marty was a Wizard, or what superpower would lend itself to these “coincidences.” That’s on me, the synopsis makes it clear that this is not a fantasy book, nor is it a mystery book.
I think it’s a case of it’s not you (the book), it’s me that kept me from loving it.
For example, Marty gets these feelings sometimes when he touches someone. Or how he was able to immediately stop Matt’s panic attack, the specific way – to me it was screaming Marty has something fantastical going on. But Marty, in fact, does not. At this point in the book, I was thinking it was more of a 3 star read for me. Then I realized that isn’t fair to the author, or the book. My preconceived notions were the problem, not the book or author. But now I kinda want the author to write a follow-up book, “My Best Friend, Marty – the Alien/Magician/SuperMarty” 😂
I felt that at times the writing didn’t flow super well. However, I think at least some of that is due to Marty being a non-native English speaker and the author was trying to convey that in a more realistic way. I haven’t read anything else by this author, so I can’t say for sure. This did take away some of the immersion in the story for me, and when I read I want to feel immersed. This is 1 big thing that kept it from being a 5 star read for me. It felt clunky to me, not natural or flowing.
The cover is well done, I found it to be pretty. It’s what made me stop and read the synopsis.
Overall, I enjoyed it and will likely read another book by M. Jandreau in the future.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to Book Sirens and M. Jandreau for this opportunity!

The book in itself is a journey and an intimate look at friendship. Endearing and memorable with characters that are real and relevant to the focus of love and friendship throughout the years. Through good and bad the characters of Marty and Matt represent endurance, patience, and the power of friendship within the friendship of these characters. The incredible pace of this book is inspiring and a very intimate look into its main characters and their lives and loves. I would like to thank Mr. Jandreu for the advance review copy of his powerful book on friendship and a one in a million encounter of two people and the building of love.n-Author Mordestia York

This book was a delightful and engaging read! I found myself connecting with many of the events depicted and became fully invested in the personal growth of Matt and Marty as individuals and friends. While it had its heavy moments that tugged at the heartstrings, they only served to enhance the overall heartwarming essence of the story. I wish I had a friend like Marty!
