Ok I will be honest and say that I only bought this book originally because I know the author and it sounded decent but I didn’t know I would enjoy it as much as I did. The character of Sal is just so likable, the typical guy next door, nice guy with big dreams and big ambitions but he just can’t catch a break. But when Sal meets Samantha all the pieces of his life just start to fall into place. Once Sal finds his own happiness he is able to finish the elusive song whose lyrics have had him stumped for months. Sal’s band So Say the King finally gets their big break, record an album, go on tour, have that album go gold, and all is right in their world. Sal and Samantha are destined to be together, it all just makes sense from their first meeting. But throughout the book Sal keeps questioning why it was so easy, how it happened so quickly, when was the other shoe going to drop, basically. So as the reader I expected a twist. I expected bad news and some sort of wrench thrown into their proverbial life plans. Even though I knew it was coming I was still devastated when it happened. I went from crying tears of joy for Sal and Sam’s engagement to crying big ugly tears. No one saw it coming, not even me. I’m still emotionally recovering from the ending and I feel like that if a book doesn’t make me feel some big things it wasn’t worth reading.

I purchased this from M. Jandreau’s website. No Spoilers! I started this book around 12:30pm and finished it by 10pm (due to work and kids) in the same day! I had such a hard time getting my hands off this book, I did not expect to finish it in one day. I absolutely loved the writing. This book had me in my feelings, I felt every page while I read this beautiful storyline. Sal is just a regular guy working part time at Starbucks, hoping on a dream that he can make it as a rockstar with his three friends. Things do not come easy for Sal, he struggles with coming up with the perfect song, and he has not had much look in the love category either like his friends. Will things change for Sal? Will he find a perfect girl or will it be too good to be true? Will he be able to play on stage and have fans love his music or will he crash and burn? The ending of this book, make sure to have kleenex it could be happy tears or sad tears, you just have to read it to find out for yourself! This has become one of my favorite books! If a book truly can touch me this much, then it’s added to my favorites! I know this book was published almost 10 years ago, but this was a perfect timing book in my life as I am now in my 30s so I can relate more to how Sal feels. Also may love that my name is one of the female character’s name too!
